Hrishikesh was born in Pune, India in 1983. As part of his growing he always knew his existence is not for a main stream profession. He was a lost soul but always found meaning in music and dance.

He tried his hands on various art forms which took him close to a performing space, but soon after knew that Kathak was the answer, the sound and purity of the classical Indian dance form caught his fancy. He started studying Kathak under the guidance of Mrs.Manisha Abhay and continued for a few years. He further went on to study with the legendry Guru Rohini Bhate, Guru Sharadhini Gole for a few months and is presently studying under the guidance of Guru Amala Shekhar.

OUT AND EXPAND

2004 Hrishikesh attended 'Summer Improv Workshop' organised by the German Institute of Improvisation, Berlin. He performed as a soloist at the Berlin Modern Art Museum and the Seebühne Hiddensee Theatre.

2005 Hrishikesh became the first Indian to be invited as a guest student in the 'Dance Teacher Training Program' for a year at the Palucca Schule Dresden - Hochschule für Tanz, Germany. Hrishikesh stated that it was Gret Palucca's Improvisations, choreographic work which enables him to see the two genres, Kathak and Contemporary, generating new information through one single body. He has now established his own communicative speech with inspirations from both cultures. The German dance critics addressed him as a bundle of energy connecting two cultures through his simple language of dance.

2007 Hrishikesh established the Centre of Contemporary Dance. The main aim of the organization is to promote Contemporary dance in India. The Centre is running in full swings giving access to its students to perform, nurture and mould their creative minds.

2009 Hrishikesh launched the Hrishikesh Dance Company (HDC). As its first initiative, HDC has already formed a collaboration with the Max Muller Bhavan (Goethe Institut), Pune and is already in talks with many other well known educational institutions and dance universities in India and overseas.
